IP Analyst
Purpose:
The IP Analyst will perform patent searches, IP landscapes and IP analytics supporting the different business segments. He/she will also support the IP portfolio manager with all aspects of IP management within the IP lifecycle.
The individual will be an experienced IP analyst with at least 3 years’ patent searching experience using advanced technical and patent subscription databases, for instance Orbit by Questel or Derwent by Cardinal, in-house IP management experience is helpful. For the right individual there is an opportunity for future progression within the IP Function.
Main responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive IP/technology/business landscape assessments on platform research projects in a timely fashion.
• Capable of independently developing relevant search strings based on subject matter inputs, executing patent searches and reporting on relevant search results.
• Develop competitive patent activity dashboards for review by business segment leadership teams.
• Capable of providing patentability and freedom to practice recommendations in consultation with In-house Patent Attorney to business segments based on the identified prior art.
• Support the IP Legal team with the Docketing system, invoices, tracking use data of the Patent Portfolio.
• Support the IP legal team in formulating the company’s IP strategies, by conducting IP Intelligence research, landscapes and trend studies, specifically business intelligence and patent/literature/market studies.
• Support IP exploitation by watching and analyzing competitors’ new products, business offers and value propositions to reinforce IP awareness of R&D teams.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Relevant technical degree and/or PhD – Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in patent searching using subscription patent & TM databases and other sources of IP intelligence.
• At least 2 years’ industrial engineering or research experience.
• Excellent IT skills, beyond MS Office packages.

it’s really around how do we amplify or expand the capabilities of what they can get done.
MATT AMES: It’s an exciting time for the tractors and for the farmers as these technologies mature and
these designs are put into use and are going to be rolled out to our customers.
TIM ROSZHART: With technology, we’re able to make decisions that care for every square foot of
ground. It’s a great way to take interest in connectivity and mobile apps, artificial intelligence, and
computer vision, these things that we see in other industries, in automotive, even in the gaming industry,
and others and how to– can actually bring those interests and those passions and those skills and use it
for this great purpose to help feed the world. That’s pretty cool.
