We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer III to join our Engine Installation team for large tractors. This role focuses on the design, integration, and validation of engine systems and subsystems, including cooling, exhaust, air intake, and fuel systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with engine suppliers to ensure performance, compliance, and innovation in engine installation for our row crop tractor line.
- Develop and manage system requirements and engineering documentation for complex subsystems.
- Design components, assemblies, and systems using Creo and other PTC/Siemens tools.
- Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) and associated Product Data Management (PDM) records.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical design issues.
- Balance cost, schedule, and performance in engineering solutions.
- Drive process improvements and develop internal standards for engine installations.
- Collaborate with suppliers on new technologies and performance criteria.
The annual salary for this role is $84,000 – $124,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Automotive or Aerospace Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience
Preferred SKills & Competencies
- 3–5 years of experience in engine subsystem design.
- Proficiency in Creo modeling, large assemblies, and GD&T.
- Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies.
- Experience with system engineering, interface management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with hydraulics, electronics, NVH, cooling systems, and CFD analysis.
- Background in agricultural or off-highway equipment.
- Knowledge of product development processes and PDM systems.
- Project management and team lead leadership experience a plus.
This position is based in Oak Brook, Illinois, within the Chicagoland area, and supports a hybrid work arrangement. Employees are typically expected to be on-site three days per week, with flexibility for remote work the remaining two days.
