Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager this position is responsible for planning, coordinating and leading a team of Manufacturing Engineers to improve manufacturing efficiency, cost, product quality, and worker safety by analyzing current methods, new methods, new technologies and cost reduction activities in Fabrication, Machining, Robotic Weld and Paint areas.

  • Provide technical support for the current Manufacturing system to ensure safe methods, efficient production, cost reduction opportunities, process control, and manufacturing layouts.
  • Analyzes, documents, and provides recommendations for individual part or process failures from a technical and operations standpoint.
  • Analyzes information and prepares reports for management review in such areas as capital budgets and capital acquisition requests.
  • Works with operators, vendors, and tool designers to develop tooling designs and actual tools within provided quality and cost constraints. When assigned they are also responsible for implementing the tooling with the operators.
  • Provides technical support to install new systems and capital equipment on time, within cost constraints, established procedures and the production forecast.
  • Provides assistance to the plant in all areas related to quality documentation and/or ISO compliance where applicable.
  • Coordinates, documents, and implements engineering changes on process data and selected areas in a manner to optimize production.
  • Responsible for ensuring required documentation (MSDS) of safety and environmental for any new processes and products and reviews with safety and environmental staff.
  • Leading and participating in Kaizen events for rapid continuous improvement.
  • Participate in CNH Business systems lean events.
  • Develop and implement action items sought at providing a satisfying work environment.
  • Develops and maintains positive employee relations within the guidelines of company policy.
  • Human resource activities such as employee selection, pay administration, employee counselling, training, performance reviews, and the administration of policies and agreements.
  • Participates in assigned management team(s), assisting with the development and realization of strategic plans, capital and operating budgets, and other plant goals and outcomes.
  • To participate in launching and sustaining of new and existing manufacturing products and process.

The qualified candidate will have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with emphasis in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or agricultural.
  • A minimum of one-year experience in leading, managing, and training of junior employees.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Working experience and/or training in Fabrication, Machining, Robotic Weld and Paint processes.
  • Experience improving laser/plasma cut settings/parameters to improve both quality and speed.
  • Knowledge of the latest machine tools/consumables/inserts to optimize cutting in machines such as Vertical Milling Center’s and CNC Lathes
  • Knowledge or experience with CAD/CAM programming for robotic welding and laser cutting.
  • Knowledge/experience with bending/forming processes to improve quality.
  • Leadership and Project Management experience for large capital purchases including Lasers, Vertical Milling Centers, Brake Presses etc.
  • A working understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Previous working experience and knowledge of an MRP or ERP.
  • An understanding of materials, tooling, machine tools, and/or manufacturing processes
  • Experience participating and leading Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Multi-functional experience (Quality, Materials, Engineering, Human Resources, Safety, Operations).
  • Experience using lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Knowledge and experience in Access, Project software, Auto Cad, and Pro Engineering are all considered assets.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
