The Commodity Buyer collaborates with suppliers for assigned items, supplies, and/or materials for assigned group/platform.
- Analyze and evaluate external price trends and new product offerings to reduce overall purchasing costs.
- Collaborates with suppliers to assure the quality of their products, materials, components and/or operations and develops supply recommendations.
- Ensures suppliers can meet forecasted demand.
- May coordinate efforts in the reduction of purchasing/engineering costs and establishing cost for new products.
- May participate in design and/or technical reviews.
- May select, recommend and manage relationships with major suppliers, vendors, or sub-contractors to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Supply Chain or related field along with a minimum of 6 years of purchasing experience.
- Ability to travel up to 20% – domestic and international (majority of travel will be domestic)
The preferred candidate will have experience with the following:
- Intermediate level of proficiency in Excel (to include pivot tables and v-look ups)
- Ability to read engineering drawings tied to the fab and weld commodity. Understand part complexity and factors which drive cost and dictate manufacturing process and supplier selection criteria.
- Understand manufacturing BoM structures and general knowledge of applicable materials in the steel commodity and their cost impacts.

The annual salary for this role is $84,375.00 – $123,750 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
